Broken Arrow's Farmers Market Runs Into December Because Shoppers Asked for Tuesday Nights

The Rose District Farmers Market has two Saturday mornings left this season, October 24 and October 31. After that, the Saturday market is finished for the year. The market itself keeps going on Tuesday evenings from 4 to 8 p.m. at Rose District Plaza, 418 S. Main St. On November 3 those Tuesday nights become the Holiday Market, and it runs every week through December 22.

The Tuesday-night schedule is fairly new. The market was founded in 2003 and spent most of its history as a Saturday-morning market. The evening market that now carries it into December started as a short winter test four years ago.

A Winter Pilot That Became the Schedule

In December 2022, News On 6 reported that the Rose District was starting a Tuesday-evening farmers market on December 6. The idea came from shoppers who had asked for a winter market, an evening market, and a weekday option. KTUL's coverage described it as a pilot set to run through February. The plan was to add Tuesdays to the Saturday market starting the next April.

That's how it played out. Tuesday evenings joined the regular April-to-October season, and the cold-weather Tuesdays came back too. In its October 2024 bulletin, the City of Broken Arrow called the November and December run a "Winter Market." By 2025, city materials were calling it the Holiday Market.

The market's 2026 Rules and Regulations now list the official season as Saturdays from April through October, 8 a.m. to noon, and Tuesdays from April through December, 4 to 8 p.m. On this year's city calendar, the last Tuesday market is December 22. The Tuesday market runs about two months longer than the Saturday market. It started as a winter experiment, and now it's the version of the market with the longest season.

What's Left on the 2026 Calendar

October 31 is the busiest day on the list. The Saturday market closes its season with the Halloween morning, and that evening the city holds Safety Spooktacular on the same plaza from 5 to 9 p.m., with costumes, candy, and family activities.

The city's rules let it close the market for bad weather or for special events that need the space. In December especially, check the calendar before you head out.

Why the November Tables Look the Way They Do

How long the market runs comes from those shopper requests in 2022. What's for sale in November comes from the market's rules.

Under the city's 2026 Rules and Regulations, the Rose District Farmers Market is a 100% producer-grown market. It's registered with the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry as an "OK Grown" market and Farmers Market Hub. All fresh produce has to be grown or raised in Oklahoma, and produce vendors have to grow everything they sell on their own Oklahoma farm. The market's Farmers Market Facilitator checks where and how it's grown with on-site farm visits. The rules also bar out-of-state products in general, and they cap craft items at 25% of total market sales. Producers and prepared-food vendors get priority for space.

There's one exception worth knowing. Meat, poultry, and fish have to be raised by the vendor selling them, but they can be processed by a meat-processing company, including one outside Oklahoma.

Because of those rules, the Holiday Market sells what Oklahoma farms and kitchens have in November and December. Last year's lineup shows what that looks like. The city's November 2025 Holiday Market bulletin listed these vendors:

  • Produce, eggs, flowers, honey, and pecans: Orvals Organics, The Heirloom Acre, West Home Farm, County Line Farms, and Jordon's Flower Farm
  • Meat: Schmitt Livestock
  • Baked goods: Anelia's World Bakery, Bella Donna, Grandma's Sweet Secrets, Hey Suga' Sweets, Smith Artisan Bread, and Green Gables LLC
  • Coffee: Rise Grind Espresso Cafe

That was the 2025 list, and vendors change from season to season, so treat it as an example of a typical Holiday Market rather than this year's roster. Some vendors have been around a long time. When the market opened its 23rd season in April, KJRH reported that the Rise Grind coffee business had sold there for 11 seasons. The city's July 2026 bulletin featured Deb's Garden Delights as its vendor spotlight.

Paying at the Market

The market accepts SNAP, Double Up Oklahoma, and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. Double Up Oklahoma matches SNAP spending up to $20 per day, and vendors with eligible products are required to take part in the token programs. According to the city's 2025 announcement and the 2026 rules, those programs work the same at the Holiday Market as they do on summer Saturdays.

Why the Plaza Works on a December Evening

A farmers market in December is easier to pull off at Rose District Plaza than it would be on most downtown lots. The city describes the plaza as having two large covered pavilions and a water feature. The covered pavilions are what make an evening market in late fall workable.

The plaza also hosts other city events in the same weeks. The free Christmas in Broken Arrow kickoff is Thursday, November 12, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Rose District Plaza, with a tree lighting, Santa, live reindeer, and entertainment. Rose District Christmas Bingo starts the same evening and runs through December 27. Participants complete activities at participating businesses along Main Street. That puts a downtown holiday event on the calendar each week. The tree lighting is on a Thursday, the Holiday Market is every Tuesday, and the Bingo card runs throughout. Each of these is a separate event on the city calendar, and the Tuesday market is the only one that runs every week from November 3 to December 22.
